Chapter 5: Diamond in the Rough

You know that feeling when you feel like your all alone in this world? Like no one really gives a crap that you are miserable? I know that feeling really well. Some days I just cant help but hate myself. But remembering my old life on some days I wouldn't want to be anybody else, then I remember my situation. I have Growlithe but he isn't enough. Sain and Smoochum hate me. My parents and Tye must have loved me so much, that's way they all left. Rose loves me. Everyday I realize how foolish my plan really is. How am I going to get to another region? What if shes in Isshu? That's on the other side of the world! I hope Rose is alright. I hope that wherever she is that she has her pokemon.

Vulpix. Rose's favorite pokemon. She got a Vulpix from Tye when he gave me my Growlithe. I sort of miss Tye too. And my mother. I'm all alone! Sometimes I just want to get to know Sain, that's how desperate for a friend I am.

Smoochum is listening to me more and more. Growlithe is as strong as he has ever been. Its time for us to challenge the gym! I need to win I cant waste time, every second that I waste could mean one less breath for Rose.

The Pewter City Gym is really cool! There are a bunch of rocks everywhere. Growlithe likes the rocks. He isn't going to be much help here. Smoochum is my only hope. Thank goodness she happened to be in Kanto, far away from any mountains. There is a girl challenging the gym leader right now. She seems really nice. Her name is Emma. She is so beautiful, but she would never notice me.Speaking of Rose she just finished her battle, Its my time to shine!

"Enter challenger!" yelled the gym leader. He sounds so big and strong from just his voice! I'm scared! "My name is Brock, leader of the Pewter City gym. I am a rock type trainer. I  have a few rock type pokemon from my travels around the world." Wow hes a world class trainer! What if he's been to the Isshu region? And then he says "Let the battle begin!"

I send out Smoochum, she is roaring to go! I wonder what Brock is going to use Ah! A Geodude! This shouldn't be too hard right? "Smoochum! Use Icy wind!" Smoochum blew out her breath so cold that I got chills down my spine. I didn't think she could be so powerful! The Geodude went down in one shot! "Go Onix! I choose you!" Oh no! How am I going to beat an Onix? I hope Smoochum has it in her! Out of nowhere and on her own Smoochum dodged and used Sweet Kiss on Onix! "Smoochum you're the best!" I yelled out, "Use Ice Punch!" And she did, and Onix went down! "Go Aron!" An Aron shouldn't be too hard for Smoochum right? "Smoochum use Icy Wind!" Aron got hit hard but he keeps charging at Smoochum, "Smoochum dodge and use Sweet Kiss!" Too late, she got hit really hard! "Smoochum are you okay? Come on don't give up!" She didn't look so good but yet she still fought, kind of like me in a way. Chances look grim but yet I still search for Rose. Me and Smoochum have a lot in common, we both fight for what we believe in. Maybe we can both be something special one day.

"Smoochum use Ice Punch!" Aron faints, and Brock sends out a Cranidos. "Wait you have a Cranidos? Have you been to Sinnoh?" I asked. "Yes I have, I just got back from the Sinnoh region A few days ago actually. I was traveling there with my good friend Ash Ketchum until we choose separate ways for ourselves" replied Brock. "Have you been to the coal mines? Have you seen a girl that looks like me?" Brock says back "Come to think of it, you do look a little familiar. I remember seeing a a news story about a girl that escaped some kidnappers and that she was accepted into the Sinnoh regions Battle Frontier as a frontier brain!" Rose! She escaped! She is so amazing! This news makes me so happy! Growlithe jumped out of his pokeball in cheers! Life even sprang to Sain's face when he heard this! Brock says "We haven't finished our battle you know!" Smoochum defeated Cranidos easily.

Rose is alive and well! Maybe everyone does have potential. Maybe we aren't all as worthless as we think we are. I will get to her and We will be reunited! I have my first gym badge and a new hope! Mt Moon here we come!

Chapter 4: Fire and Ice

Oh how much Sain began to piss me off. Always talking about his problems and what he had to go through to find me. With him following me everywhere and with him commenting on everything i do i now have a reason to hate him. He is so annoying! He thinks he is a such a great person for helping me, when  really he is only doing this for himself. He thinks that rescuing Rose would make her love him. Pathetic. I was talking to a boy in the pokemart and the topic of team Terradark came up. He said that Team Terradark is using the old plans of Team Rocket. He also said that there was a rumor that Team Terradark was abducting people. And that  they use their victims as slaves in mines like the coal mine in Sinnoh and the emerald mine in Isshu. At least if this was true at least it gave an indication that Rose was alive. And two possible places she could be. New plan. I discussed it with the boy, bless him he was such a huge help. Ill travel around Kanto, fast of course, until i reach Vermilion City and take the ferry to Sinnoh. Then ill take one of those fancy new things they call an airplane to Isshu.

Anyway, towards the end of the conversation we heavily discussed Team Terradark when Sain rudely interrupted us. This was the last straw. I was sick and tired of him butting in and following me around like a puppy so i stormed away and now I'm sitting in the museum waiting until i calm down. There is some pretty cool stuff in here! Ancient pokemon and ancient artifacts!  I really need more pokemon. Growlithe wont be much help in this gym. It also seems i need to get gym badges for my pokemon to obey me and for me to leave kanto. Arg more distractions. Now i need to get all eight badges before I can look for Rose! Oh no this is a disaster!  I hope she is okay.

Its beginning to blizzard outside. Should I go look for Sain to make sure he is okay? Yeah I should find him. Brrrr its freezing out here! I think I see someone is that Sain? No, its a child! I have to get them to warmth! No its not a child! Its a Smoochum! I have to help her find her mom! "Come here Smoochum!" I called. Thed Smoochum ran towards me and gave me a huge kiss. Accept this was no normal kiss. It was a Sweet Kiss attack  and i felt so confused and couldnt control half my actions! But what I did do, I have no clue how, was let out Growlithe who easily defeated the weak Smoochum. I carried the Smoochum to the pokemon center. When she awake i threw a pokeball at her and she was mine! I have two pokemon now! Except they hate each other and Smoochum really needs to be trained. I think she hates me. This is going to be a real problem.

Believe me training her was horrific! She hated me all right. At least she learned some more attacks and listens to me about three out or ten times, which im not complaining at first she wouldnt listen at all. But was she strong enough for the gym? Only one way to find out, and thats to challenge Brock.

My first gym battle. If I win ill be one badge closer to Rose. I have to win, i have to! Thats why im training both Smoochum and Growlithe so hard that they will be level fifteen before I challenge Brock.

Chapter 3: The Forest

That's what they say about me. Yea its me, Adam.Since you heard the rumors and the story from their view, its time to look at it through mine.

People stopped to stare at me as I ran towards the forest. Oh I knew that I'd seen an Absol somewhere, I just couldn't put my finger on it. And now, out of the blue a trainer with a rare Absol appears in Pewter City? There has to be a connection between this trainer and the abduction of Rose. I hurried my pace through the snow. Yes it was Christmas, and if I found Rose that would be the best present ever. I entered the snowy forest with great anticipation for i knew I'd see that Absol. At that point It hit me, in my haste out the door I hadn't eaten breakfast, taken my money with me, or let anyone know i was gone. But its too late. I can't go back now. I'll never come back to Viridian to live in an orphanage. I couldn't run anymore. I was starving and my legs weren't as strong as they had been during my days of running track at school in Celadon.

Celadon. That's where I'll go. I'll go back home. Well, after I find Rose. I need a plan right? I'll find this Absol trainer, find Rose, then take her and go back home to Celadon. What could go wrong? I know this is a solid plan but I keep doubting it will work. Rose. Her memory keeps me strong. I need to find her. I was so lost in thought that i didn't realize I tripped over a fallen tree branch. The ground was frozen solid and the snow didn't help. I was going to get frostbite so I let out my Growlithe.

"Growlithe use ember on that branch" i told my trusty companion and he obeyed and I felt so amazing from the fires warmth. "Me and you Growlithe, we are going to find Rose. Nothing can stop us. You don't know but i also left the other pokemon behind with the other kids at the orphanage. They could use them more than us." Cold and with no family and one pokemon. And a terrible hunger. I would kill for a nice juicy hamburger right now! Wait! I think I see something!

There it was. A majestic Absol with its trainer on its back. And the trainer was Sain! Sain must have taken Rose. I wanted to kill Sain just for the thought that he obsessed over Rose and now the thought of him taking Rose drove me to run up to them and make Growlithe use flamethrower on them. " Watch it! Who do you think you ar-Adam?" yelled Sain! "Adam I've been looking everywhere for you!" "Shut your mouth Sain. You better have answers. You have an Absol, a rare pokemon from the Hoenn region. Absol, the pokemon that stole Rose!" I screamed at him. Sain replied "About Rose....... I love her with all my heart and she hated me! I came looking for you so i could help you find her! I bet if we find her she would love me! Team Terradark used my Absol to abduct her! You gotta believe me Adam!" Oh i believed. Believed that i wanted to punch his face in. Believe me I tried but he blocked and punched me square in the stomach. I doubled over and just watched him beg and plead me to let him come with me to look for Rose. Did he abduct her? Should I let him come with me? We are enemies. But this isn't about me or him. Its about Rose. Which is why I'm letting Sain, the rat that I don't entirely believe, come with me.

We wondered through the forest. Sain had given me bread to try to win me over into believing him. It didn't work, but it was so delicious and warm! Hey what if i used Sain for food and money and protection and then I ditch him once I can support myself? That sounds good! Whatever it takes to survive to find Rose. Sain said to me "Why do you hate me? What have I ever done to you?" I had no clue why i hated him. I really disliked him because he had a crush on Rose. But really, i never knew him as a person. I hate him now for having an Absol but i wont tell him that. I just remained silent until we made it to the warm Pokemon center of Pewter City.

Chapter 2: The Mystery

Many people saw the Absol run off with Rose. It was suspicious because nobody knew how an Absol got to the Kanto region. It must have belonged to a strong trainer who had been to Hoenn. The Barono family and the city were devastated. Rose was loved by all and hated by no one. The police had no clue who could have done the terrible deed of kidnapping Rose. Adam was sure he had seen an Absol sometime at school several years ago. He was desperate for answers so he started investigating on his own. he found nothing, no clues, no tracks, no facts. The memory haunted Adam of her abduction and in the night he cried and begged God to bring her back. Search parties and police forces looked everywhere for her. Weeks passed without any information. That's when Tye couldn't take it anymore, he had to leave Celadon and go look for Rose. The night Tye left he said to Adam "I'm leaving to find Rose, your the man now. Take care of mom and be strong. I want you to have my Nidorino, hes always helped me and your going to need him." Julia became heart broken at the departure of Tye. So far her son and husband had left her, and her daughter was taken from her. Julia couldn't bare her life anymore. One cold winter night, Julia suffocated herself leaving Adam completely alone. The banks took away the house and Adam was taken away by police officers to be taken to Viridian City for an orphanage.

Life in Viridian was terrible for Adam. But he kept breathing only for the purpose that a know town meant more places to search for Rose. In was now December 23, months since September 15th, Adams birthday and the day that ruined his life. 2 days it would be Christmas and Adam would spend it alone.

On Christmas morning breaking news about a trainer in Pewter City with an Absol spread around Viridian City. Adam ran out of bed and took only his Growlithe in his search for the truth. Was this mystery trainer the one who took Rose? Was Rose still alive? Adam had no clue but he NEEDED to find this trainer and interrogate him. But first he would have to go through the Viridian Forest, where another huge event in Adam's life was about to occur.

Chapter 1: Enter Adam

It was pitch black outside. The wind was rustling the leaves. The Hoothoot stopped calling out into the air. There was something there that shouldn't be there. The owner of the Celadon Game Corner locked the doors to his world famous business. Rumors had been heard that someone was planning on breaking in to Game Corner. It had once been a base for Team Rocket, but that was many years ago. Now there was a new team, unknown lurking in the shadows. In fact a member of the new team was standing there watching the Game Corner being locked up. The owner finally left and then the team member flew into action. He pulled out a pokeball, and released his trusty Absol into the dark frosty air. Absol grinned to his master and was commanded to slash open the doors of the Game Corner. Once inside the building, the team member pulled out his Pokepod, a pda and phone and mp3 and a lot of other electronic devices in one. He dialed a number and then waited for a reply. " Sain? Hows the plan going? Are you inside yet?" said the voice in the receiver. "Yes I am" replied Sain with a laugh. "Remember your mission or I'm going to have to report you to Master" said the worried voice in the receiver. "I know what I'm doing Nano, just wait until tomorrow morning and ill be there with Team Rocket's old plans and then we can go over them. But this time, those plans are going to work for us because we're Team Terradark! No one can stop us! Besides that brat Ash is in the Isshu region so he cant stop us! I'm out, have fun at the station."

It made national headlines! The discovery of a break in at the Game Corner occurred just minutes after Sain left. It was all the kids talked about at school. Everyone was so  curious about the break in, that is except for Adam Barono. Adam lives with his divorced mother, his older brother Tye, who has been torturing Adam for his entire life, and Rose, Adam's twin sister. Adam's dad left the family after he found out about Adam and Rose being twins. Their mother Julia was pregnant with them when he left them. Adam and Rose never knew him and Tye and Rose and Adam grew up to hate him for his betrayal to the family. Adam and Rose are now 15 years old. Their birthday is coming up in a week. Julia and Tye were at work Tye was the man of the house and was 20 years old. Adam despised him and often told him to leave the family just like their father did. The Barono family could function without Tye, if anything Tye made life worse by wasting food that the family could barely afford and by terrorizing the twins. The twins are at the top of their class in school. Rose is an amazing student with a GPA of over a 100! Adam on the other hand was at the top of the class in a different way. He was popular, the best dressed, the best looking, and definitely the best pokemon trainer.

One day a kid named Byron wanted to see if Adam really was the best in the class, actually Adam was the best in the school. As a sophomore Adam was better than the seniors at battling! Well Byron is a senior at this time and Adam is just a freshman at this point. Adam's Growlithe destroyed Byron's Arbok and Pidgeotto. Adam was the king of the school. Almost everyone liked him, except for Sain. Yes Sain is only 15 years old and secretly in an admin in Team Terradark! So young and already high up in the ladder of Team Terradark. Sain had a terrible crush on Rose. Adam and Sain hated each other and Rose hated Sain too. How terrible it was to love someone with all your heart and they don't love you back not one little bit. Adam knew that there was something going on with Sain.

Sain hadn't shown up at school all week since the break in, which made Adam suspicious. But Adam had no time to be suspicious because tomorrow was his and Rose's birthday! Turning 16 would be a wonderful thing! But all of that was ruined when Adam came home from school all alone. Rose had went home early with a stomach ache. She was home all alone while Julia left for 10 minutes to go get some groceries. Adam came home to find the door busted in. He run inside to see who had broke in, but there was no one in sight. Suddenly a terrible scream rang through the air. It was Rose! Someone was attacking Rose! Adam let out Growlithe and his Dratini and ran up the stairs to Rose's room. The screams were louder and louder! But he was too late! Just as Adam busted through her door Rose was being kidnapped by an Absol with pure terror in her eyes. And there was nothing Adam or anyone could have done to get her back.
